Ginnie may seem like a quiet 12-year-old at first glance, but once you get to know her, you will quickly discover her cheerful and expressive personality.
Ginnie has been learning English with 51Talk for three years. Over time, she has been building her English speaking skills step by step, becoming more comfortable expressing herself in English.
In our latest student interview, Ginnie shares her English learning journey with 51Talk, her favourite part of the 1-on-1 English classes, and how she became more confident speaking English.

Finding Her Favourite Part of Class
Ask Ginnie about her favourite part of class, and she has a clear answer: role play.
For her, role play makes English more interactive and gives her a chance to use what she has learned in different situations. Instead of simply memorizing words or sentences, she gets to practice speaking and responding as part of a conversation.
It is also one of the ways she can practice using English more naturally while having fun during her 1-on-1 lessons.
Three Years of Small Steps
Ginnie’s English speaking confidence didn’t happen overnight. Her journey has been about making progress little by little.
Through regular 1-on-1 online English classes, she has had opportunities to practice speaking, respond to her teacher and express her own ideas. With lessons adapted to her level and interests, she has gradually become more comfortable using English.
For Ginnie, that progress means being able to speak in full sentences today when she once felt too shy to speak.
What Does Ginnie Want to Be in the Future?
The interview was not just about English learning. Ginnie also shared what she hopes to do in the future and the occupation she dreams of having one day.
From her English learning journey to her future dreams, her story shows how learning English can gradually become part of how children express themselves, share their interests and talk about the things they care about.
For Ginnie, three years of learning with 51Talk have been a journey of small steps, new experiences and growing confidence.
Sometimes, progress can be as simple as going from feeling shy to saying what you want to say in a full English sentence.
